Barili tourist spot

MANTAYUPAN FALLS

Mantayupan Falls remains as of this writing an uncovered natural beauty in southern Cebu. But its popularity is getting momentum among students, weekend revellers, family vacationists, and

foreigners who have resided in the south long enough to hear about this favorite spot.Barangay Mantayupan is best accessed through the town proper of Barili. Through this route, private vehicles can easily access the area without trouble, the roads being cemented all throughout from town.

The waters of Mantayupan Falls are cool and can give a chill even at noon time. Its mountain breeze remains so fresh you can relax just sitting around, watch the swimmers, and enjoy the atmosphere of a hidden spring of nature.

Barili is 61 kilometers southwest of Cebu City, and usually reached through buses and private vehicles. It is around 3 hours from the City. Mantayupan Falls is as close as a 10 to 15-minute drive from the town center.
Mantayupan Falls provides a mix of nature tripping as well as a swim into the natural mountain springs.
It is a nice place for overnight activities near the falls but not its rooms, which may not be comfortable for more choosy individuals because of its simple structures and single-bed capacity.

BOLOCBOLOC SPRING

Boloc-boloc Springs is actually a place with two swimming pools containing fresh water. The place is simple with the two swimming pools surrounded by trees.
The resort is located in Barangay Bolocboloc, Barili

  1. SAYAW BEACH RESORT, BARILI
Sayaw Resort is nicely located in Barili, Cebu, Philippines.

You can easily find it along the highway of Barili Town.

Sayaw is a transliteration for both “swallow” bird and the noun/verb for “dance” in Cebuano or Bisayan language.

Yup, it is a white sand beach resort – most Cebu beaches are (although others are much whiter) since the whole provincial island is coral based or build on the foundation of corals. (Anywhere on the mountains you can easily find seashells and other sea materials).

Facilities and other services are not established, not commercialized, which means that you need to provide your own supplies.

Sta. Ana Shrine - BARILI CHURCH

BARILI CHURCH - Patron Saint: St. Anne (Sta. Ana)

The word Barili comes from the name of a local grass called balili.
The municipality was founded in 1632, though the parish of Barili was established in 1614. A cross was planted by Spaniards led by Captain Juan Juarado on their arrival in 1602, and still exists today.

It gradually evolved into a town, now the Municipality of Barili. In those days, Barili was one of the most coveted towns in the island because of its fertile soil where excellent tobacco thrived. During that time, a town was run by an encomendiero, a person responsible for the protection and welfare of the town. In 1632, Doña Catalina Jiminez, the encomendiera died. When word about her death reached Captain Juan Fernandez de Leon, a Manila resident, he filed a petition to become the next encomendiero of Barili. And on November 5, 1633, his petition was granted.

Began by Padre Juan Alcoseba in 1887, the church of Barili as it looks today, took over a hundred years to complete. Foundation is made of coral stones gathered by the parishioners and even schoolchildren from the ruins and remnants of the old church in the pueblo area somewhere near the Barili Central School.
